President of BrightStar Care of Central DuPage-Wheaton
Jim Flickinger grew up on a farm, but his true calling was sales. After working his way up from field technician to director of sales and marketing, board member, and minority owner at Testing Service Corporation, he decided to start a new venture. In 2008, Jim and his wife, Judy, established BrightStar Care of Central DuPage-Wheaton, and then built it into a multimillion-dollar enterprise that is improving the overall health of people in their service area.

Shooting Star: Putting Heart into Home Care is the story of building an award-winning home care and facilities staffing organization. With a background in sales, but no experience in leading a healthcare franchise, Jim Flickinger, along with his wife, Judy, worked up to sixteen hours a day, and without a paycheck, until everything began to click. And click it did—BrightStar of Central DuPage-Wheaton has received more than forty awards of excellence including Nurse of the Year, Regional Caregiver of the Year, Franchisee of the Year, and Mentor of the Year, and it has been recognized for marketing, online reputation, and clinical and operational excellence.
BrightStar was built on five core values:
- being open and positive
- serving with passion
- always doing the right thing in an honest, ethical manner
- doing what we say we will do
- always striving for improvement
These values, along with the foundational belief that it’s all about staff and clients, have earned BrightStar a healthy referral base and the loyalty of caregivers and health professionals.
