Laura Rashley

Lead Editorial Manager

Prior to joining the Advantage|ForbesBooks Team, Laura worked for Pounce Cat Café where they partnered with a local shelter to adopt out Charleston’s homeless cats while providing customers a relaxing place to drink wine, eat pastries, and meet their new feline companion. She was also Assistant Editor and Editor-In-Chief of Miscellany, a literary and art magazine which she expanded on a national level over a period of two and a half years.

As a writer herself, Laura has had her poetry published in Poetry QuarterlyFall Lines Magazine, and Memoryhouse Magazine. She was also named a US Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and a YoungArts finalist, for her poetry in 2013. Her work has been displayed in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.

Laura attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, a competitive, residential high school, where she focused in creative writing. After graduation, she went on to get her Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of Charleston.

Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but having lived in various parts of South Carolina for most of her life, Laura now calls Charleston home. When she’s not at work, she can be found at home hanging out with her cat, eating popcorn, and reading poetry.

“I love what I do; I’ve always wanted to be an editor,” explains Laura. “It’s an honor for me to work with our Members on their manuscript and help them bring such a special part of themselves into the world. Even when I’m doing that work wrapped up in a Snuggle with my cat in my lap (and I often am), I take great care and patience with every single piece that comes my way.”
